Project Progress

The Hancock Museum closed in 2006 when it was completely emptied of collections. The existing rear extension was demolished and now the main building work has begun. To see the images, click here. Exhibition designs are nearing completion. Plans are also underway for a purpose-built offsite store/resource centre.

January - Building work begins on the GNM offsite store (in Discovery Museum)

Feburary - Branding Agency appointed
Launch of new website
Branding consultation in progress
Exhibitions out to tender

Summer - Hancock building works completed

Autumn - Collections come out of storage and return to new exhibition galleries and offsite storage. Museum staff prepare for the museum's opening.
